Coast Guard Retirement Cake - March 2013
This cake was commissioned by John, my husband, and his group of guys from Station Portland. This was a retirement cake for his, then current, chief. The cake was red, white and blue on the inside and it was butter cream frosting. I also used a new technique that I had taught myself from an online video. The wheel, anchors and emblem were transfers. I printed the images as mirror images, I then traced over them with colored frosting and filled in the empty spaces with butter cream. They were then frozen and then placed on the cake. When they thawed, they just became part of the frosting on the cake. What a cool thing to learn and something I plan on doing many more times.
